Project Description:
Gaibandha district (population 2.5 million) is one of the poorest districts in the northern area of Bangladesh. Approximately 125,000 people are suffering from diabetes and about 50% of them are extremely poor. Gaibandha Diabetic Association, a non-profit organization registered with the social welfare department of the Govt. of Bangladesh, started a medical clinic in 2005 for treating diabetes patient.

The clinic, however, lacked the necessary equipment to provide treatment and badly needed Autoanalyzer and UltraSonogram machines.

SpaandanB Austin partnered with Rotary club of Austin Silicon Hills-USA and Rotary International to purchase an Auto Analyzer (the US $5000) and an Ultrasonogram (the US $11595) for Gaibandha Diabetic Association clinic. These types of equipment are being used since April 2010. The clinic provides service to 1200 to 1300 patients every month.
